Nothing in the way
The bars fade as soon as you type and come back when you move the mouse or scroll up. Focus dims every paragraph but yours, and Typewriter keeps your line in the middle of the screen.
Simple formatting
Write in Markdown: # for headings, - for lists, > for quotes, two stars for bold, and one for italic. Press Command or Control with B, I, or K for bold, italic, or a link. Lists continue on their own when you press Return.
Yours, everywhere
Drafts save in your browser as you go. Export to Markdown, Word, PDF, plain text, or a web page, or copy formatted text into an email or Google Docs. Add Inkwell to your Home Screen to write offline.
Where is my writing saved?
In this browser on this device, every time you pause. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account. To keep a copy somewhere else, use Export, or Back up every draft in Drafts.
Does it work without the internet?
Yes, once you have opened it with a connection. On an iPhone or iPad, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, and Inkwell opens like an app, even in airplane mode.
What is Markdown?
A simple way to format plain text. Start a line with # for a heading, - for a list, or > for a quote, and put **two stars** around words for bold. Inkwell shows the formatting as you type, and Export turns it into a finished Word file, PDF, or web page.
Can I move my writing into Google Docs or an email?
Yes. Export, then Copy formatted, and paste. Headings, lists, bold, italic, and links come along.
